Posted August 30, 2018 08:13:30Aiken police said they arrested a 24-year-old man Thursday on charges of first-degree animal cruelty after a chase in Aiken.

Police say they were called to the 900 block of North High Street around 3:20 a.m. when officers said a woman was “acting suspiciously” and they followed her into a parking lot and found her in a “very aggressive” manner.

Police said she hit a nearby patrol car and was in the process of running when officers tried to stop her, but she didn’t comply.

They say the woman then jumped over a fence and ran into a driveway and hit a vehicle.

Police said the driver and passenger of the car got out and started chasing the woman.

The chase was stopped when a dog was involved.

Police charged the woman with first-level animal cruelty, attempted murder and resisting arrest.
