Obama’s big policy speech: He won’t do anything about global warming
H.R. McMaster, the national security adviser, has said in an address to the nation that President Barack Obama won’t be making “a big deal out of climate change” and that the United States will be doing “whatever it takes” to limit global warming.
McMaster also noted that “climate change is not a hoax.”
President Trump is expected to announce plans later Thursday to cut greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, increase coal mining and allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, according to the White House.
McMaster’s remarks are significant for a president who has previously said he doesn’t believe climate change is a problem.
Trump has repeatedly made global warming a central issue during his presidential campaign and promised to “save our planet” if elected.
